Hola Familia! Que Tal? la verdad esta semana fue una muy muy loca.. hicimos tantas cosas que no las puedo recordar de todas. Pero, pues vamos a ver...
Honestly this week went by in a blink of an eye. The days were like weeks and the weeks like days. We worked our butts off though and I am feeling super happy about that!
I have some funny stories from the week so I will just start with those since my companions and I have been laughing all week about a few different experiences. The first being that we contacted this sweet little old lady. All of the houses here in Mexico have gates around them. She was inside her gate just looking up at some birds in the tree outside of her house. Her old husband was behind her working with some wood building something. We go up and start chatting with her and she seemed so happy and sweet. She told us all about how she had come to our church before because her sister is a member. We talked for a minute and then asked if we could come back to visit her some time during the week. She then pops her little head out between the rods of her fence and gets her face close to our and whispers "My husband doesn't want to.. BUT I DO!" ...ok maybe this won't be funny to you all but we all laughed so hard about it all week. Poor little grandma. The thing is we did go back and turns out her sister is Jehovah's Witness haha.. It was all just a weird experience.
We also had a BUNCH of CRAZY lightning and thunder storms this week. We couldn't sleep because it was so loud! The lightning was blue, green....RED sometimes. It was intense! I think just about everyone here was trying to repent all week because it seemed like the end of the world. It was funny because the power went out a few nights but some how the neighbors still managed to find a way to blast their typical Mexican "Rancheros" music haha. so typical.
So I know we shouldn't be competitive.. But sometimes it just makes things more fun. Last week in district meeting we all decided to place goals in companionships for home many people we should be contacting in the street between lessons. The first pair of assistants set a goal for 20 people. So of course the next assistants say the same 20. They then come to us. Sisters how many would you guys like? The funny thing is we set a goal for 15. But without even having to say anything, just a look in the eye and then at the same time Hermana Bowers and I said 21. hahaha. The cool thing is that we did it! Some days we even contacted like 27 people! It may not seem like a lot but for our mission it is a ton! We contacted well over 100 people in the week! It was awesome!
Remember Ana? our baptism last week? She has started bring her cousins to church! They have now all come with her 2 times! The love it! It is so awesome! Also Hermana Miriam and Manuel.. the family we found at Diego's house told us they are prepared for baptism... haha what? Yup. Miriam told me the other day. Hermana I read the book and prayed and have really started to repent, we are going to church with you. We feel really good and prepared. Well OK! haha So they are doing excellent. Hermana Miriam had such a great time at church yesterday it was awesome! We had so many investigators at church yesterday that we had to change our classroom... now it will be in the sacrament room. God has just prepared a ton of people here in the area. We can tell because he has called 7 missionaries to work in this area and we all still have so much service and work to do! It is crazy!
I also went on splits this week.. crazy thing is I went on Splits with Frida. A year a go she was a teenager that Hermana Sosa and I found. Now she is a member of almost a year. That was a cool experience. It is cool to come back to the ward and she people that I was teaching now as members and still active in the church. Like Frida's family and Miguel and Miguelito were at church yesterday! Miguelito is so freaking cute! It is just awesome!
My companion, Hermana Moreno is addicted to Nutella and chocolate Ice Cream. She eats a quadruple Nutella sandwich every morning and night. 4 slices of bread with a load of Nutella smashed in between it all.. it is intense. It just makes me smile. haha because she is from Peru she has just discovered what Nutella is because they don't have Nutella in Peru. It is basically all she talks about.. so of course we get along great. This is such a random fact but just describes my week so well. haha
Well! I love you all so much! Les amo mucho! Espero que tengan una semana muy bonita! Les extraño mucho!
Con mucho amor,
Hermana Gillette
Sorry I don't have many pictures from the week! I will have to send some from the damage of the storm!
