Hello Hello Family!
I hope everyone is having fun back at home celebrating Thanksgiving this week. I am actually enjoying being here for the holidays, a lot more than I imagined the holidays in Mexico in my head a year ago. The cool thing about Mexico is that well Thanksgiving is everyday here hahaha. This is sadly so true. We eat way too much everyday. They don't celebrate Thanksgiving here but I am sure my comp and I will find something to do for it. The other cool thing is because they don't celebrate Thanksgiving, Christmas starts November 1st here. It has been fun!
Well, Let me tell you the news. A lot of things have changed! I am now with a new companion! Her name is Hermana Reyes and she has 17 months in the mission! It is so crazy to be with someone who is so close to going home! She will actually be going home December 22 which I think is going to be a little hard for me to see her go! The crazy thing is sounds like my new companion-the new sister missionary will be coming before Christmas! or so this is what President told me this week. So, I am just going to prepare and prepare so that this new sister can enjoy her first little bit of her mission and holidays away from home. If you all have any ideas you should let me know of things that I could do.
Anyways yes, I am with Hermana Reyes. Transfers happened super fast.. the assistants called Hermana Magana and I on Wednesday and told her to back her bags for the next day! It was a crazy few days with the emergency transfers but everything is now back in order. It has been nice to get to know Hermana Reyes more. It has been weird to be with someone new since I had so much time working with Hermana Magana. Hermana Magana and I ended our time together well. As we waited for President to pick her up we had a little devotional. Sounds super cheesy.. which it totally was but it was good. We sang a few hymns had a little Companionship inventory and said an opening and closing prayer. I definitely had my ups and downs with Hermana Magana and she can say the same. But we definitely learned a lot from each other. You definitely learn from every companion on the mission.
Well, Hermana Reyes and I have worked super hard these past few days together which has been awesome. I am amazed that even with all the time she has in the mission she still has so much energy to work which has been refreshing for me. We found a few new people who have desires to be baptized this week. The problem we seem to be seeing with their preparation is working on Sundays. But they are determined woman we are teaching and so I know we will be seeing miracles in their lives soon.
One of our investigators is Norma. She has lost two of her brothers in just this past year. It has been hard for her. But she is a pillar of strength. She works in a factory her in Reynosa but when she has free time she goes and work with the troubled kids here. She's awesome. She was totally stoked when we introduced the Book of Mormon to her and when we came back to see if she had read she had read way more than we gave her and was sharing her favorite versus with us and teaching us about how 3 Nephi 11 testifies about that priesthood that we taught her about the last time we were visiting! She basically teaches herself.. and us! I am loving getting to know her too!
Well, what else. Not too much else is happening around here. It is warmer today which is nice. This place is like Utah with it's weird weather habits. Are you all getting snow? If so.. why haven't I received any pictures! haha sorry but I wanna see snow so bad! or the mountains.. or the two together! haha
Well, I love you all and hope you all have a great thanksgiving. Remember all that you guys have! It is amazing how much we really do have! Don't forget it!
I love you all so much!
Con Amor,
Hermana Gillette
