Time is always running short! A sister called us this morning sad so we stopped by her house today to cheer her up so I am running short on time today! But I only really need to write about one thing...
Wendy and Maria got baptized on Saturday and it was beautiful :)
Seriously.. so sweet.. It was so sweet top see them.. mother and daughter take this step together! Honestly I love them so much! After they were baptized Hermana Maria wanted to say a few words. She bore her testimony and shared the story about the day we met her. It was so sweet to see how she remembered the day.. so vividly and so sweetly said...
She said she saw us walking with our Santa hats... it was a few days after Christmas and we of course called her attention.. I remember that we were caroling that day and that it was So cold!
She said she felt that she watched us as we walked and then we approached her. She immediately wanted us to come in which was rare for her. I remember as we prayed she began to cry.. she told us about the passing her niece just a little back. We tried to comfort her and just listen. I shared with her a little bit about Tyler Robinson and then talked to her about covenants. I remember her saying she wanted to be baptized that day. (maybe I have shared this already..)
It was something really special for me yesterday to hear her talk about this experience for several reasons.
I have felt like I haven't had a lot of success lately in the mission. I haven't had a lot of baptisms and I just feel like sometimes maybe if I would work hard and hard I would finally see the "fruits of my labor"
I did yesterday. I may not have baptized a lot of people in this past little while... but I have seen a real conversion in the life of a daughter and a mother. It is something so beautiful. It wasn't because of us. But because the spirit could work within us.
I still think of Tyler so often.. such a great role model to me. I probably share his story too much but it is just something that brings the spirit. I have just been thinking about Ty a lot this week.. it's sweet to know that his story has impacted people all over the world.. in some way he is a missionary here and there.
Just something I wanted to share was that it surprised me that Hermana Maria shared how his story touched her and brought her a greater desire to hear more of the gospel.
Sometimes Heaven just really doesn't seem that far...
The baptism was also just such a miracle but I will just have to share the whole story in 5 months.
I love you all so much! Keep smiling and helping others! It goes a long way!
Love,
Hermana Gillette
