Buenas Tardes! Familia! I am so so so excited to write you about this week! It has been amazing! I am going to start with my big news... I HAD MY FIRST BAPTISM! AH! It was so amazing! Seriously, I just went home last night and just thought to myself "this is the life" haha. Super dorky. But seriously.. so amazing!
So let me tell you about Diego. Diego is 14 and he is the boy we baptized yesterday. He is so hilarious and so awesome! His parents aren't members.. yet :) haha his mom has been taking the lessons too. Yesterday at the baptism she was bawling. She said one of the prayers and it was probably one of the sweetest things I have ever heard. I loved it all. They are amazing people! The best way I can describe Diego is he is JUST LIKE Ethan-Abby Bell's brother. Sorry the only person who will truly understand that is Abby.. haha just a little side note. But he is a cool kid. Anyways yesterday was amazing and I will attach pictures!
Then, we also had a 2 day mission conference with a 70 this week Elder D' Hoyos. That was fun too! We just learned/practiced a ton with working with the members. It was really funny though because Hermana Sosa forgot her name tag at our house and the conference wasn't close. But I carry my other nametag in my bag so she just borrowed my other tag for the day. (picture also attached!) That made for some weird looks. Everyone made lots of jokes all day about how she really is my mom. Because trainers are called moms.. idk.. haha missionary humor..
Anyways, other things for the week are that I gave Hermana Sosa and Hermana Bowers haircuts :) That was fun! I seriously cut off probably 8 inches of Hermana Sosa's hair.. she is crazy! But that was super fun to use my talents out here! I seriously am always doing someone's hair in the morning. I love it!
I am struggling to remember what else happened this week. But honestly I worked harder on the language and on listening this week and it helped. I think that it paid off cause we had a great week. I don't feel as frustrated with the language which is good. I still don't know Spanish but I am on my way haha. Well, I love you all so much! I saw on a calendar yesterday that today was St. Patrick's Day and I was like "Dang... Carnivorous Sunday!" haha I hope you all enjoyed corned beef for me! We had the MOST delicious fried stuffed green peppers so I wasn't too sad :)
But honestly I am in love with my mission. I have already learned so much and met people who have changed my life. Some times are hard but the good times are so much greater. I heard the song livin' on a prayer on my way home yesterday from a distant and that is how I am feeling right now. Just trying to coast along. The good and bad feelings come and go so frequently. But I am constantly praying in my heart. Praying for patience, praying to understand, praying with gratitude, praying for my family. Thank you all for helping me get here. I love you all so much! Know that and know that you are all always in my heart :)
Until next week,
Hermana Gillette
