Family!
Man, can you believe all of this? I am 6 months out! A year from Yesterday I will be home... this is all a little too insane for me to think about. It is all just too bittersweet. The time is flying that is for sure. Well, holy cow this week was very intersting.. EXTREMELY good in some parts and difficult in others. But I will just get to it cause there is a lot to say!
Well, I can't wait any longer to tell you about yesterday! It was the baptism of 3 of my investigators in Loma Linda! I got to go and the elders even asked me to sing at the baptism.. hahaha yeah that was freaky! and in Spanish! Oh boy it was scary. Since it was the baptism of Frida and Zoila I found a Young Woman's song in Spanish. It was scary but definitely a privilege! But that was probably the worst part of the whole baptism haha because everything else was so amazing! The best part for me was seeing Miguel (Convert of Hermana Sosa and I) baptize his son, Miguelito. I don't know if you remember but Miguelito and I are like the best of friends. He is just too dang cute! He seriously is a nephew to me. But yesterday Hermana Magana and I brought one of our investigator's alejandra to the baptism we went to the chapel a little early so that we could have a lesson there about baptism with her before the actual baptism. It was super sweet. But during the lesson. I just hear "HERMANA GILLETTE! HERMANA GILLETTE!" like 40 billion times haha Miguelito was looking all around for me but couldn't find our classroom. It was cute. But yes, Miguel, his dad and his wife Terry has now been baptized too! and now Miguel! This is just what it is all about. The changes I have seen in Miguel's life are seriously night and day. It is al just too sweet! I am so happy for them! Crazy what a little conversation can change with one of the workers of Hermana Blanca! Too freaking sweet!
Also, now that Frida and Zoila have been baptized the whole family has. I love their family so much too! Hermana Ana (the grandma) called me on Friday to see if I was coming to the baptize.. I seriously wouldn't have missed this for anything. Too sweet. Ahh! I just love them all so much! Such a good, sweet blessing in my life!
Okay, I am getting sister missionary on all of you. But just suffer through please. This week was just sweet. I received another call on Friday from Hermana Bowers who is in San Jose she told me that one of the families in her ward had a son who was in the hospital in our area and would like us to track down a Hermano that could give him a blessing. Well, we searched and called people, the APs, Elders and like everyone. No one could come/didn't answer. So we thought and figured we might as well go and say a prayer for the family and read maybe a scripture and then hopefully find someone later. We got to the hospital and wow.. I really don't like hospitals. The guy was young probably 22 or 23. His diagnoses above his bed said luceimia (wow, I can't spell right now.. hopefully you understand ha) but he was having seizures like ever couple of minutes. It was really hard to watch him in pain. Hermana Magana read Mark 9 with the family and then we all got down on our knees and I said the prayer. It is really hard to be a missionary for me in moments like that. I am glad I don't have the priesthood cause I am not a very helpful person hahaha. I am just Kelsy. But it was a very spiritual experience for me. It was hard but cool. just hard to describe. We found elders to come give him a blessing right after. After the blessing his seizures stopped. It was amazing.
What else, my comp and I went and were witnesses for a wedding this week too. That was fun. This week was strange cause we had a lot of random events pop up. We have a lot of work to do in our area so it will be nice to get back to normal work this week! We keep finding new investigators just searching for the one's that are really ready to be converted. It is tough but we are staying diligent :) The members have been helping a lot lately which has been lovely. Hopefully we can keep their excitement going for the work!
Wow, so much has happened this week. We also had conferencias with our zone and the conference for leaders. I got to see Hermana Sosa so that always means a good time haha. She is companions with Hermana Clubb right now! During their conference (since Sosa and Magana are the sister leaders.) Hermana Clubb and I got to work an afternoon together tracting close to the chapel. Hahaha we are losers. But it was fun. It is so crazy how much both of us have progressed in so many ways since the MTC. But that was sweet. As of last week there are 2 baby elders in my district. Americans and they are only a week into the real mission life. It is sweet to see where I was and where I am now. But it is so true, there is something special about the first few weeks out. Their testimonies are sweet and simple. It funny how that was such a trial for me and now I kind of wanna go back haha.
Canicula has officially started. What happens is that is rains super hard in the mornings and then gets super hot and humid.. I love the rain so much! I will send a picture but it won't do it justice but the whole hot and humid part is gonna take some time to love hahaha. Oh also I will send a picture of how Hermana Juliet (our neighbor, my mom for the moment9 has officially declared me Mexican because I can now make tortillas, cook without spatulas, I can speak more like a true Mexican, and I can wash my clothes by hand and then hang them up by rope (without clothes pins-hence the picture) Yup. I am turning Mexican and I love it!
K, those are my highlights of my week.. I know there is more but I am drawing a blank right now. So this will just have to do! Love you all so much!
