So everyone here talks about August 28th. Apparently that is when the hit settles down a little. If this really is the case I may just have a new favorite day of the year. Poor Hermana Lopez.. her skin really hates this sun. She has to wear long sleeve shirts and long skirts everyday or her poor skin freaks out. Sounds like you guys are getting a ton of rain. I would kill for a little rain. Things really are always greener on the other side, uh? haha I have been enjoying my side of things though. Everyday I take a few moments to look around and think about where I am and what I am doing and everything else doesn't matter. The mission is too sweet, even with the heat.
Well, This week Hermana Lopez and I had a little more luck in our small part of the world. We were able to find two more awesome families that are now preparing for baptisms in September so we will see what happens there. We also found some other people to teach as well. So hopefully everything works out well with our new families. If anything I am sure some more adventures and stories will come out of it!
On of my favorite parts of this week was actually last night. Hermana Lopez and I had 40 minutes left before we could return home. All of our plans had fallen through and not gonna lie we were tried after the long day and well week of walking in the sun. We decided to sit down and rest a second and think about what we should do next. We had just had a lesson where our investigator literally did not pay attention at all. I asked her if she received an answer to her prayers if she would be baptized and her response was "I think my dog needs a bath" oh my gosh hahaha sometimes.. oh investigators are the most interesting people ever!
Anyway, we sat on the side of the road and decided to pray about our next step. We decided to look for a woman we had talked to the other day in the street. We walk down her street and we see a little old woman sweeping her patio so we decide to talk to her. I told her we were missionaries and she didn't really seem interested so we asked her if we could help her clean or if she needed something else. She rejected our offer to help clean but she needed help finding the church of those Mormons. hahaha. I was rather happy to let her know that we were those Mormons. Apparently she had just moved to town and her son had shared his testimony with her this week and invited her to find a church but she didn't know anything about this city. Oh man, it was seriously awesome. So we had a quick lesson with her and she accepted everything super well and was thrilled about us coming to pick her up for church this next sunday! So sweet.
Hmm.. other things that happened this week. Remi is ready for her baptism this next week. I am more than excited for her. She is already such a strong member of the church. Ahhh I just love her. I feel like Hilary when I say this but "she is my present this year" haha. I don't need anything for my birthday.. because we have Remi in our lives she is the goldest of all golden investigators. Yesterday we had lunch with her and she asked if I would ever come back to visit after my mission I was joking with her like "if I have time" or "you all what remember me". But then when she said the closing prayer she prayed that I would come back someday to visit her and her family. Well okay if you put it that way! Man, these people are so cute.
Oh it was Hermana Juliet's birthday this week. The mom of the family we live with. (she is president of relief society and holy cow she is my saint! She is always bringing us dinner or breakfast or helping us out with random stuff. I don't know how I will live without her someday..) But we made her a Key lime trifle. It was freaking delicious not gonna lie. It didn't look super pretty but I was happy with mine and Hermana Lopez's made up dessert. We had a quick 10 minute fiesta with her. haha oh mission life. Everything is so quick but fun! I will try to attach pictures of these adventures.
Well, shoot I can't think of much else. Everything is going super well here. The work is coming along and that is the important part. Hermana Lopez and I are working so smoothly and happily together so that is good. Well, I love you all so much! Have a good week :)
Love,
