Familia!
Hey hey! Wow! This week was crazy! It was a really good week for several reasons. First thing, first, Hermana Lopez and I got the news for transfers on Saturday and we will be staying together in Reynosa for another transfer! I am so stoked! I can tell it is going to be a really good transfer with her. We are both excited and ready to work these next 6 weeks together!
Well this week was a week of miracles because my prayers were finally answered. It rained this week! Not only rained.. it flooded.. like crazy! It flooded so much in our streets that the water was above my rain boots! hahaha it was crazy and made for such an adventurous week. Our area right now consists of a lot of wide dirt countryside roads. Which made for a lot of muddy lakes hahaha. I pretty much went swimming this week haha but I thoroughly enjoyed the break from the heat. Today is literally perfect because it is overcast and outside isn't hot or cold. It feels like the beach is near.. which it kind of is haha. I am still trying to convince President that the beach should be allowed haha.
Today is like the 4th of July but Mexico version. It is Independence Day here. It is super fun cause everyone is all decked out in green, red and white. Hermana Lopez and I are wearing traditional dancing skirts that we bought last week for super cheap! They are super pretty and well they are usually expensive but our investigators that sell clothes have mercy on us haha! But yes we are looking super Mexican today. Tomorrow our ward is having a "Mexican Night" and we have permission to go and I am stoked! It is going to be a lot of fun. Just expect photos to come!
Well, on Tuesday I worked with Hermana Bowers in her area. It was super fun! We haven't really talked since we lived together in Loma Linda together. But it was a really fun day. It was crazy to see our progress since the MTC our Spanish has changed like night and day which is awesome. But oh man, the funny thing is that it was the very first time ever that two American sisters have worked together in an area alone. Hermana Lopez was in a panic calling us like every hour or two checking in on us. It was like a mom when her daughter leaves for her first sleepover haha. But everything went well with Hermana Bowers and I we found some new investigators and one of them accepted a goal for baptism so I felt good. We came home and planned and then I showered and when I came out I found pizza that Hermana Bowers had ordered for my birthday hahahaha I am the most spoiled person ever. But we had a little party and well it was just really fun to reunite for a second.
Then I returned home to Hermana Lopez hahah she hugged and me and told me to never leave her again. It is so crazy how when you change companions even for a second you miss your companion. At least that is how it has been for me. You get used to how your companion is and then it just feels weird to have them gone. I can already tell it is gonna be hard to leave Hermana Lopez but i will just enjoy this time while I can.
Hermana Lopez and I then worked the week trying to find new investigators. We have found a bunch of old ladies to teach that talk A TON! hahah seriously! We are teaching this old lady named Guadalupe and she is so old that she can't remember how old she is haha she is hilarious though. yesterday we went to pick her up for church and she lives in the most impossible street ever! It is tiny and super muddy and We went in a car and since it wasn't raining Hermana Lopez and I didn't wear our boots.. this was the biggest mistake ever. Because the car couldn't fit in the street. So, we walked down her lake of a street and Hermana Lopez and I both almost lost our shoes in the mud. Yeah we had to pick up all our other investigators without shoes hahah I don't know why but I couldn't stop laughing at the situation. Sometimes I have NO idea how my life has ended up here! (not in a bad way..my life is just a weird Mexican comedy)
Oh we also had such a sweet lesson with Hermana Perez and her mother in law and niece yesterday who aren't members. Her niece is scared of dying and we taught The Plan of Salvation and the spirit was so strong it was amazing. Her questions were just so sincere and Hermana Lopez and I really had unity in the lesson it was sweet. I don't know how to explain it.
This is something I want to note. Hermana Lopez and I have a super unique companionship. We talked it over the other day during our companionship inventory because we both want more companionship like the one we have. Something we both have noted is our unity. We do everything together! Literally everything. Like in my other companionships we did everything together but sometimes in different ways. Hermana Lopez and I don't just eat breakfast together. We eat the same thing and make it together and eat at the same table. We don't just wash our clothes at the same time. We sit side by side and help each other and practice English or Spanish together. I don't know how to describe it but I have learned so much this last transfer. Because we are both willing to learn and teach one another. It has been amazing and has really helped us as missionaries in our work and helped our members want to work with us and the investigators can see that we really are focused on them and not on anything else. It is awesome.
Well, this letter has become extremely long so I think I will stop here but I love you all! Have a great week!
