I hope you all love my subject title as much as I do! That is seriously what our brach president says to us everytime we see him. But yes it is true! I got my VISA! Thank you all for your prayers, they worked! This week has most definitely been my favorite here by a long shot. Especially Wednesday so let me start by telling you about my Wednesday. I woke up at 3am to go to the airport. I wish I could explain to you all how weird it was to drive past Hilary and Derek's house on the way down.. all 10 of us missionaries waved and they were like "Hello, Hermana Gillette's house!" haha it was super adorable. So we got to the airport cause we had to go to Las Vegas to pick up our visas. We fly to Vegas and I asked if it was okay for me to take a picture in the airport and the old guy drive was like "you can take a picture of anything just keep your quarters!" which I guess was his way of saying no gambling hahaha. Anyway, we went to UNLV's institute building and waited there for awhile and then went and picked up our visas at a place that was like a mexican DMV. That is seriously the most perfect way to describe it. So, we had to wait awhile in line. I was sitting next to this mom and her daughter who was 4. I loved it because the daughter started to speak to me in spanish. Seriously, the cutest thing ever. Plus I could understand her, I now know I have the spanish of a 4 year old haha. So that was really fun. The back to institute for awhile and then back to the airport. As we get on the plane I realize I am not going to be sitting by other missionaries like I was on the way there. I am sitting in between to people that had that look of "oh crap, I'm sitting next to the missionary" So, I, being new to this whole mission thing decided that I was going to keep to myself because if anything went bad I did not have an exit strategy haha this is a super sad fact but true. So, we take off and I start reading my scriptures but I couldn't stay focused because I kept feeling like I should talk to the people next to me. So I finally built up my courage and asked the lady on my left if she was heading home. She said yes and our conversation began to form. I think I may have met Big Vick #2 (for my friends Big vick is my aunt Vickey who passed away after having breast cancer) Anyway, the story is very long but man, this lady is just amazing! She started to just tell me all about her life. The good times, the bad times, the funny times, seriously it all. She has had cancer twice. She is just ending her second round of treatments things are looking good but she has not been declared 100% cancer free yet. Seriously, by the time the flight was over I felt like she was one of my closest friends.. to be completely honest there was one point where we were both in tears. I shared with her a little about Tyler and shared his favorite scripture D&C 101:36-38. It was amazing and well she has a grandson who is about to get baptized and challenged her to read the Book of Mormon (what a stud!) this was just a strong testimony building moment to me that God really had been preparing her to hear the message. Sorry, I am getting super missionary. K let me tell you the last little bit. As we are landing I told her good luck with her reading and to really enjoy and observe her grandson's baptism. I probably could have given her a better commitment but I was just not thinking.. anyway we get of the plane and I am just like soaking in all of the awesomeness f what has just happened I met up with my companion and then the lady (i don't think I should share names in mass emails.. haha) So the lady comes up to me and gives me a hug and says "I know you have a big family writing you but I would love to hear from you. Thank you for your love." She then handed me a piece of paper with her name, address and phone number. I think I will remember that moment forever. It was the best. Oh just so good. Wow, I didn't mean for that to take up so much time! But I really wanted to share that! But yes I got my visa! I am leaving for Mexico in 2 weeks from Monday! So completely excited and completely terrified haha. the time is flying for me. I need to learn so much! But I guess the best way to learn is by being out there doing it! Oh and I know I say stuff like this every week but thank you to Mom for the cupcakes and cakebites. Those are WAY gone. Oh and Hilz I got BOTH of your packages yesterday and those are WAY gone. I have literally never seen food disappear faster than Hilary's package. An elder and I in our zone have testified of the good that is Harmon's maple bars so we were splitting them into thirds so that everyone could taste of their deliciousness. Everyone here was loving them and the macaroons! Man those pistachio ones.. dang. I miss them hahaa Hma. Jeanou says Gracias! haha and the Teanna sent me a freaking adorable jam-packed valentine's day package. I am seriously so blessed!
Other than that we got some snow this week and so during one of our 3 minute breaks we all built snowman (see picture) haha. Then we had two elders in our zone. 3 on West campus break there hands this week. They all broke their hands playing volleyball. Volleyball is seriously intense here. I know I have a couple of bruises from it. haha But I am getting good but I promised myself not to get too into it cause I don't want to break a bone and have to stay here an extra 3 weeks. No bueno.
I can't think of much else.. just studying a lot. We have taught probably 15 lessons this week Hma. Clubb and I. Which felt like a ton but that really is not that much compared to the field. But we are improving our teaching so that is good. I also still love hermana clubb after almost 4 weeks so that is like the best blessing too! haha cause we have some sisters that are starting to get sick of eachother.. oh and the walls are paper thin here so you can hear everything the brach presidency says in the meetings. So the other day you could hear them talking about the two sister's having problems and one of them says to the other "Oh is that Hma. Gillette and Hm.a Clubb?" and the other goes "No, Gillette and Clubb are the ones with the confidence issues" hahahahaah I don't know why that was so funny to us. I think it is cause EVERYTHING is fuuny here. But apparently we need to work on our confidence a wee-bit. We are working on it. I actually think we are doing good. We aren't given up and we are just pushing along with this language and I don't know but I think our district is sweet. We can work hard when we need to work hard and take advantage of those 3 minute breaks. Maybe we have too much confidence haha.. K well I should go but I love you all very much! I love the letters you all send! Seriously, I have the best family and friends. You all just need to know your amazing!
I LOVE YOU!
