Family! Guess what?! I live in Mexico! It is still the craziest thing for me to think about! I seriously just look around and am like I just don't even know where I am on this planet haha. Well, I hope you all had great weeks! I hope Beto's had an awesome birthday! I can't get over that he is 7! That is too old! I was in the 6th grade when he was born.. isn't that weird to think about? Yeah.. hahah but from the pictures I have glanced at it looks like his birthday was a success :)
Well.. let's see, here in Mexico things are crazy as usual. This week I ate pig skin twice. The first time they made meatballs out of it and it was actually kind of good but the second time it was just raw and I wanted to die. hahaa My body didn't like it too much but everything turned out okay but apparently people around here like to eat pig skin. But this week we also hah chocolate filled croissants. Man, they were amazing! So those made up for the pig skin haha.
Okay, no one knows why I started with talking about pig skin. My brain is just ALL over the place when I am here. I need to make better notes for the family. Anyways, I wanna tell you about our awesome investigators we have right now. We met this man and his son this week and they come and meet us at a members house and they never flake out. They are seriously so awesome. They are both named Miguel and well whenever they come and meet us at the members they wear White button up shirts. Not even the members wear White shirts around here. They are just the sweetest. I hope and believe the are going places.
We have actually been teaching the man with the ducks some more! He has a wife haha.. this just shows how much I understand. But he is awesome! He came to church yesterday and was answering and asking all sorts of questions. Oh and one day we went to visit them and he showed me how he makes tortillas out of corn. It was crazy! It takes him 2 days to make 4 corn tortillas. The man is crazy! But seriously so awesome!
Other stories from this week was we went to teach this lady at her house.. it is seriously so run down.. it is made out of like Bud Light boxes. There is no electricity or like sinks. It is depressing. But we were teaching her and the sun was going down and you couldn't see our scriptures or pictures anymore. But I had a flashlight so I pull it out and we use it for the lesson. It is a tiny keychain flashlight. But anyways at the end of the lesson I gave the woman the flashlight. She was stoked she just starts shouting "Jose Smith bless you!" over and over again. Even after we left you could still hear her saying it as we walked down the street. haha It made me smile.
So, I feel bad cause I don't have any seriously awesome spiritual stories for you all yet since I hardly understand what is going on still. But even not understanding these people I still am loving every momento (well, almost every moment.. haha most moments :)
Oh so the not so spiritual but funny story of the week is that my companions and I got attacked by dogs. Not anything bad. Don't worry. I was laughing so hard right after it happened and I am still laughing so hard about it now. We all just looked like idiots and it was just one of those moments where I just thought "what is my life right now?" How many times in life will I be in Mexico with 2 other Mexicans, in the rain, yelling "PAN" (which is bread in Spanish) while getting chased by dogs.. hopefully not too many more times ;) haha but let me just tell you the story. We were walking home and when we walk I am always the jamon or ham and my companions are always the pan or bread. Like I am always in the middle and so we are a sandwich (like I said parents: they keep me safe around here!) Anyways we are walking and all the sudden this huge black thing comes and jumps on my companion. Too be honest I thought it was a person. We all just start running and I am yelling "Pan!" to be honest now thinking about it I don't exactly know why I just wanted them to stay by me. Anyways by the time we got home Hma. Tobon had lost her sleeves. My skirt had a hole But we were not bit somehow... maybe dogs know that we are missionaries too. haha jk. but seriously. I hope this is okay to write about cause it was and still is super funny to me. So don't be scared! I am always worried to write you stories cause I don't want you to worry! Let me know if things are too much.
Okay so the only other thing I can think of to tell you is that we had two interchanges this week. I loved them. One day I was with Hermana Dimond and then with Hermana Bowers and Tobon. Those days we had so much success, it was awesome. But Hermana D is amazing. She is an American that got here one transfer before me. She is a redhead so we stick out SO much that day. I hate how much I stick out and have thought about changing my hair because it always draws attention. It isn't so fun to be the blonde around here. But anyways Hermana D's mom died 3 years ago as of this week. So she got to kind of talk to me about how she's been feeling and it was just really good. We got super close that day. It was awesome!
K I think that is all I have to say for this week. I love you all so much! and I miss you all so much but I will see you all soon enough :) Everything here is so crazy! My dreams have finally come true. I may not be exactly where I want to be as far as spiritually or with the language and things yet but I am not where I used to be either. It is awesome! It is all just a process that I am trying to enjoy every step of the way cause soon it will be gone. I can't believe I am already on month 3. Too nuts! Well, just know that I love love love you all! Thanks for the letters and support! I have not yet received any paper letters or packages yet, everyone always asks. I am so sorry! But I can't wait to receive them! Thank you!
Love,
Hermana Gillette
The only photo I have this week is of Hermana Bowers and I outside our house. We have cute rose bushes :)
Oh and I never explained-one of the pics from my first week is us outside our house!
