Hello!
Wow! I got a ton of emails this week and have run my time super short! How sad! But it was so good to hear from so many friends and family!
Well. let's get to things! This week was great! A little sad because my district leader for the past 5... almost 6 months is finishing his mission today! He was seriously an awesome leader. I feel like now that I have been in the mission over a year you can tell that having good leaders really makes a huge difference and that they are hard to come by. But I know that i will learn new good things from my next leader as well. But we ate really well the whole week long because the members where spoiling the elder and since there are 4 of us in the area.. we all got spoiled! I will be sure to send some pictures!
This week was a great one.. Some of our investigators have been having problems but Wendy and Maria are still changing each and everyday. It is awesome. We held an activity in our ward this week which was fun. We haven't held too many activities because our chapel is far from our area but we have just decided to get over that fact these past few weeks and hold some activities.
The activity we held was a movie night and it is something I will never forget. One of the sisters in our ward named Mayra brought some of her friends from college to see the movie. Hermana Godoy and I spent all week looking for a good one to see that would be new even to the members. I dug through my stuff and found some movies that my bishop from my first area had given me. I totally laughed as I watched them this time around and could actually tell what was going on... I totally got a different message the first time around.
Anyways we picked one about an Italian preacher who finds a Book of Mormon and reads it, prays about it, then starts to preach in his church about it. It is a true story and ends with after like 20 years of looking for the church where the book comes from is baptized and enters the temple. It was amazing. We ended by giving the members a chance to bear their testimonies about The Book of Mormon and then had a Book of Mormon for every investigator that came to the movie.
But something beautiful happened. As the members would go up one by one to share their testimonies. I was amazed to see one of Mayra's friends approach the stand. I was anxious to see what she would say. As she got to the microphone she explained that this was her first time in a Mormon church. That it was the first time in a long time to feel the spirit in her life and that she was very grateful for the activity and for our desires as members to share the gospel.
I totally went home and cried that night.
Sometimes the gospel is just so beautiful.
Okay well, we also went to teach one of the members university professors this week. I felt kind of nervous to teach the gospel to professor.. haha who knows why.. anyways it was such a sweet visit! She has had some awesome experiences in her life with friends from the church! She has some great goals in her and her husband have great goals set for their lives and now one of them is to prepare for baptism together. It was just beautiful as well.
president called me today. I think mom's Facebook message sent him into a panic hahah. We are going to get my glasses tomorrow... I will be sure to take picture so you all can see. We are going to America tomorrow to get them.. weird.. I bet it will be even weirder for me with a year out now to go back there. Should be interesting! Okay well, I love you all a lot!
Thank you all for the cards, emails, support, love. I am truly enjoying every moment and it is all thanks to you people back home who helped me so much to get to this point of my life!
Love you all!
