Familia!
Wow.. this week was another super fast and crazy one! I hope everyone had a great week! Sounds like Hilz had a great birthday and that everyone else is doing well! Today is a special p-day for several reasons :) For one it is Hermana Sosa's birthday! (my companion) and so we had to have a party this morning with banana chocolate pancakes, roasting marshmallows over our stove, a really tiny surprise party that we prepared while Hermana Sosa was in the shower haha. Yeah things like that! So hopefully she is enjoying her day. I pulled out the party supplies mom sent me in my first packages and we celebrated a bit in the street this morning haha.. I will send a picture. Sometimes I feel so Mexican but yet I still look so white! President bought all the Hermana sombreros because we are chifladas (Dano, el Salvadorians use the word chiflada, right? haha yeah we are chiflada) Anyways some days we wear sombreros because it is so freaking HOT! Today we also have a multi-zone activity! We are having a volleyball tournament! I am stoked! It should be fun!
Well, this week was really awesome! Hermana Sosa and I had the baptism of Esmeralda! She is too cute! She calls us her little angels and oh man.. she has like 100 really strange but amazing phrases! I hope I can remember how she talks forever! I will try to impersonate her some day for all of you :) Well, the baptism was super special. We had a lot of people show up and they all wrote down their testimonies for her. It was super sweet. I gave a talk.. I think they love having the American speak because I have spoken at all of our baptisms! It is stressful! haha. But I have pictures from this too :)
We also did more service this week. We helped Blanca, our recent convert, move this week. Don't worry she didn't move out of our ward though! Thank goodness! I would have freaked! haha She moved down the street! It brought me back to the days of living on Royal Lane when we just walked our boxes down a couple of house. haha but it was fun. We also cleaned one of our investigators houses. She had her brother die, in her house, from alcohol poisoning or something.. that is what I understand. It was really sad.. this investigator also has a disability. When we were cleaning up her house I was just thinking that this is exactly what I pictured my mission to be like. Hand washing clothes on a super hot day and then teaching a lesson after.. I don't know it was just a totally missionary moment for me. But it was super special. I am glad we met her so that we could be there for her this week.
Oh so we had another activity this week where we showed the Joseph Smith movie in our chapel. We also had interchanges this day too. I was with Hermana Lopez, another hermana I live with. But we were in my area and I am no longer in a trio so I was in charge. It was a bit scary but I think It went well. The activity went well too! We have a lot of investigators right now which is super sweet! But a lot of them aren't really progressing.. so we are trying to more active things to help them out! So hopefully our efforts will pay off!
Well, sadly I think that is all I have to say for this week! Sorry! I didn't really eat anything weird or get attacked by any animals... Hermana Bowers on the other hand can't say the same.. haha there are too many dogs here! EVERYWHERE! Oh I am going to send a picture of me with one of the "garbage trucks" here in Reynosa. Dano, was El Salvador the same? Sometimes it is donkeys and sometimes it is horses. But the little carriage always has a fmaily of about 7 sitting in the front haha. I found this one parked at a little market so I had to get a picture! I love you all and hope you're doing well! Hope the weather is nice cause here it is like death!! Everyone says this is just the beginning of the heat and it makes me just want to cry haha. But I am having fun and doing well!
Until next week,
Kels
