Can you all believe it? It is definitely a shocker to me that it has been a year. Well, it was a good year to say the least. People aren't lying when they say that the mission is the best time of your life. Well I ended the year well this week.
To start the week of we celebrated King's Day out here in Reynosa. This is the day where EVERYONE eats the cake with the baby Jesus inside of it. We ate it probably 4 or 5 times on Tuesday. Every cake had like 10 baby Jesus. I came home that night with 10 little baby Jesus... I now have A LOT of tamales to make February 2nd hahah. But it was a fun day. I will send you pictures of me with Hermana Sonia Chan (the woman is a saint) and with the family Cruz (our ward mission leader and his family).
We had some more good things happen this week. Last week we found a woman knocking doors. She invited us in and we had a great lesson with her. She has been going through a lot of changes in her life right now and has been looking for God's help. We talked with her for a bit... I think I wrote you all about her because she was the woman when I talked to her about covenants and baptism she wanted to be baptized that same day! Anyways we are now helping her get ready for her baptism January 31 and well this week we also started to teach her daughter who is 15. Her daughter is a Jehovah's Witness so I was thinking we might get into some problems them. But her daughter is awesome. Oh sorry I forgot to tell you their names. The mom is Maria and the daughter is Wendy. Anyways Wendy has now also accepted to prepare for baptism the same day and yesterday they both came to church with us and it was just a great experience. I still think it is so awesome that every Sunday I have the chance to be there as people experience going to church for the first time. It is just awesome.
We also had some super cold days this week. with rain and wind. I wanted to die only just a little, no one wanted to even open up their doors for a second but it's all good I am from Utah... poor Hermana Godoy though.. Apparently it is never cold in her house. Anyways on the coldest night of this week we stopped by the Gomez's house to see if one of our investigators was there with them, since she is always with them haha. but she wasn't but Hermano Gomez told us that he was just about to leave to give a less active (of 16 years) a blessing and that the other members of the family aren't members of the church. So.. we of course decided to join him.
We went to the house and turns out that none of them are members.. a family of like 10 people! So we taught them a less and they wanted us to return the next day.. so of course we returned the next day and there were even MORE people in the house the next day. haha I felt like I was some preacher. We were all crammed into this small house all drinking Pineapple Atole as Hermana Godoy and I literally preached to about 15 people in the room about the Sabbath day. It was something to remember.
Well, I also ended the week well because a member from our ward invited us and the elders in our area to go the the parque cultural this morning. Just a gigantic park with a lake and giant statues and a bunch of cool things. the park is actually in my old area, Reynosa so I got to go back there today. I actually ran into one of the members at the park so that was fun. Anyways, I took a bunch a pictures and I sent some as well.
Since it was in my last area I knew the area and remembered that there is an Olympic swimming pool just around the corner. I was always tempted to go when i was in my last area. This is why I haven't been sent to the beach parts of my mission.. God knows me too well. Anyways we decided to take a trip to the pool (NOT for swimming but for a few pictures) Vieve and Krick are gonna die. It is actually where the Mexican Olympians train... pretty cool, ehh? The pool was HUGE! When I come back to visit after the mission. It is definitely on my list. I will send pics so you all can see!
I think that's about it for this week. I love you all and thanks for all the emails and pictures every week! After a year and I am still getting updated. I am seriously fortunate. Thank you all so much!
