Family!
Hey hey! How is everybody? Here in Mexico everyone is depressed.. because we lost against Brazil yesterday.. It was the funniest thing because NO ONE would open there doors for us during the game and NO ONE was outside! But you could hear the game blasting from every house. Then all the sudden there started to be cars again and people walking on the street and vendors but it everyone was silent. It was pretty easy to tell we had lost. Bummer. haha there was a cute Little boy walking with his mom decked out in Mexico stuff and he had the biggest frown on his face. Oh priceless..
Well, this week was interesting. I have remembered something that Jonathan wrote to me once. He said in life we win some and we lose some. But the thing is we want to win them all or something like that. That is a perfect sum of my week. We lost some and we won some. It was a difficult week because almost all of our appointments fell through. I don't know why but no one was home. People are listening to us but not progressing. It is sad. But we also found more than 10 new investigators this week and with all the new people we found last week, I can't complain. Hermana Magana and I are really just trying to find the people who WANT to listen and who WANT to be baptized. That want the góspel and not so much just friends to talk to haha. I think a combination of the two would be nice. There was one day where we didn't teach a lesson until 8pm! It was insane we knocked SO many doors. We walked so much! I had the worst Charlie horses that night hahahaha. But the 8pm appointment was with Iliana (Our perfect investigator!) and Javier our recent convert. I just sat there so completely content because although the day was hard it was also so incredible beautiful to be a part of this lesson with Javier and Iliana because they are missionaries to me. They have a ton of faith. I can't complain when I have people like them in my life. You win some and you lose some :) Thanks Jof for that letter it really helped me out this week!
Other random things from this week are that we had a Ward activity for Father's Day. It was really fun. Iliana and her whole family came to the activity. Her spouse even came and we got to teach him too! It was awesome! The activity was way fun. We had delicious food and it was a karaoke party! I love my Ward I am in right now so much. They are so fun. Oh man.. the fact that it was a karaoke night made everything all the better. I loved that one of the members brought a special dress for karaoke and changed after dinner... oh it was all just too priceless!
The members we live with are freaking saints. I don't know how I will ever live without them or how I lived with out them before. The Little girls (Karla, Ximena and Ali) have started to make us breakfast in the morning cause they like to play restaurant. Their smoothies are the bomb! In return I braid their hair for school :) I have gotten really good at doing all sorts of random braids because they are picky haha.
Oh man, so story.. This week Hermana Magana and I were walking down the street. Singing Christmas songs... Don't ask me why haha. But yes, we were walking down the street sing Christmas we were really close to an intersection. This car pulling up to the intersection (his light is red) was staring at me. Like super bad, full head turned around, staring at the gringa singing Christmas songs.. well he was staring so badly that he most definitely ran right into the car in front of him. hahahahahahahah I was dying. Seriously. Everyone stares at me. I am definitely used to it now but sometimes people stare so badly that it is uncomfortable. The worst is when I am in a bus and it is crammed and I am sitting right next to someone and they have their whole head turned just staring at me! When they are sitting right next to me. haha but yeah they car accident.. oh so bad..
hmm.. my last Little story is we had the sweetest Little 15 year old girl come to church with us yesterday. We met her this week with her mom and she said she wanted to go to church with us. At first, I didn't think she was serious. Cause most people aren't right off the bat. But I love it when we go to pick up and investigator and they are outside, waiting and ready. Oh so sweet. There she was outside, waiting and ready. She was super shy but oh so cute but get this.. Our Ward doesn't have a SINGLE Young woman. So sad. But I think she enjoyed relief society with us hahaa. She had drawn a picture of me with a cute Little note too. I hope she keeps coming cause she is so sweet!
K... I think that's all I got for this week! I hope you all have a wonderful week! I hope you all do something fun for the 4th of July! Happy Birthday Dad this week! I hope it is amazing! I will have to celebrate in some way! Thank you all for the love and support!
Love,
Hermana Gillette
Pictures of this week:
One of our neighbors let's us pick and eat her grapes :)
And this one.. We all wore blue to the father's day activity! hahaha except Hermana Magana.. whoops (Iliana and her family and Javier!)
Okay I PROMISE this is the last time I am going to change my address but Presidente Morales bought a PO Box in Texas so that we can eliminate all this traveling and crazy negotiations with members and just take mail all right to the office so here you go! Thank you :)
